If you are in business, ensuring your networks and data are safe and secure is critical for you and your valued customers. In the UK, hacking and breaches of cyber security are prevalent, with almost 50% of businesses having experienced a threat to their security. The British Government recommends organisations take precautions to prevent fraud and theft.
Whatever size your business, it’s worth investing in cyber security and taking preventative action now, as it will save you money later. Hacking and cyber security breaches can impede your IT system and damage your valued reputation as a trusted company with your current and potential customers. About four in ten of all UK businesses (39%) and three in ten charities (30%) have identified at least one breach of cyber security, according to the Government’s 2022 Cyber Security Breaches Survey. The threats were in the form of fraudulent emails or being directed to fraudulent websites, others impersonating the organisation online, viruses and malware, ransomware.
Most breaches are preventable but the survey showed that only a small percentage of businesses have successfully implemented all of the National Cyber Security Centre’s (NCSC) recommended improvements, with smaller businesses being less likely to have implemented controls.
